Principal's Biographies

I am a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Midland. I hold an Associate’s Degree from Midland College in Substance Abuse Counseling. I also hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science from Lamar University and I am currently enrolled in the graduate program for Educational Leadership.

I have been at Texas Leadership of Midland since the second year we opened the campus and have taught Kinder, 4th, and Junior High Science. "Leader In Me" has been such an inspiration in my career and life. Passing on my passion for the 7 Habits to the kids and their parents is a great opportunity I have had at TLCA.

I am a native Midlander but have had the privilege to live in San Angelo, Odessa, El Paso, and Sweetwater, Texas.

I am blessed to raise my awesome and talented daughter, Leah.

Hello, everyone! My name is Jessica Stanford, and I am a native of Midland and a 1995 graduate of Lee High School. I have my Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and currently pursuing my Masters in Educational Leadership also from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. I began my journey with TLCA as the school nurse in its first year. It did not take long before I felt led to become a certified teacher, and I began the process of alternative certification. Once I received my EC-6 and ESL certification, I accepted the opportunity to transition from being the school nurse to a classroom teacher. I have served as a 1st, 3rd, 4th-grade teacher, Reading Interventionist, and Instructional Coach.

Educating the whole person is something I am passionate about. I feel that this can only happen when you invest time to build relationships. TLCA has created the perfect environment for this to occur as it aligns with their mission, vision and values. I am so fortunate to be able to serve alongside the students, parents, and staff of TLCA as we make a difference in our community.

I have been married to my husband, Jerry, for 19 years. Together we have three lovely young ladies: Daija, Desarea, and Destiny. We also have the most precious granddaughter Jeaslyn. As a family, we are very active in our church and community.

I am excited to rejoin Texas Leadership of Midland (TLCA) as the Secondary Assistant Principal for 6-12th grades. It is going to be an incredible year, and I look forward to getting to know each member of our school community. My goal is to support all the wonderful things that have already been in place on our campus, while also inspiring and encouraging each student and teacher to achieve the goals and dreams that they have set for themselves.

In 1998, I earned my associate’s degree in psychology, then continued on to earn my bachelor’s degree in  English/Teaching Certificate from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 2002. Once I began my teaching career, I mostly taught 4th and 5th grade, but also taught 1st, 3rd Dyslexia and 6-9th Reading Intervention as well. Along the way, I became Gifted/Talented trained, which was a lot of fun. I quickly learned that what is good for GT kids is also applicable for all kids. I began to incorporate those GT concepts into my classroom through project-based learning and critical thinking. Kids certainly rose to the occasion. In 2013, my career took another interesting turn. I became a science instructional coach for Midland ISD and began to help develop teachers. After seeing many different styles of campuses and teaching, I realized that I wanted to make an impact on a much larger scale, so I obtained my Master’s Degree from Lamar University in Educational Administration and became a middle school vice principal at St. Ann’s Catholic School. The next year, I transitioned into being the vice principal of curriculum and instruction. When the opportunity to return to TLCA as the secondary assistant principal came up, I couldn’t resist. The staff and students of TLCA are amazing!

In addition to being a Secondary Assistant Principal of TLCA, I am a mom of three exceptional young men, whom I have raised with my husband of 25 years. My oldest son is in the Navy, with the middle son in college and my youngest is in high school. I must also brag by informing you that my two oldest sons are Eagle Scouts, while my youngest will also be an Eagle one day. My faith, family and job as an educator are what my life is all about. I couldn’t be happier sharing it with the school community of TLCA,
