Texas Leadership of Midland

Homeschool Participation Program

How It Works

Texas House Bill 547 and Senate Bill 401 allow school districts to extend UIL (University Interscholastic League) participation to homeschooled students. Texas Leadership Public Schools (TLPS) has opted in, creating an opportunity for homeschool families to engage in our academic, athletic, and extracurricular programs.

Although our Midland campus is not a member of the UIL, it is a member of the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations (TAIAO). TAIAO allows homeschooled students to participate in sanctioned events. Because of this, TLPS allows homeschooled students to participate in TAIAO activities through the school, using eligibility criteria closely aligned with UIL standards.
