Texas Leadership of Midland

MEET MS. JILL SHEDD | High School Principal

Ms. Shedd is a Midland native who is deeply rooted in the community she serves. Her heart for students and families is personal, and her commitment to education has been evident throughout her career. Since January 2000, she has served in education in many different roles, beginning as an ELAR teacher for six years before spending 14 years as a dyslexia therapist, where she helped students build confidence, discover their strengths, and believe in themselves again. She later served as an instructional coach and strategist for three years before becoming the Assistant Principal of TLCA Middle School.

A proud graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, Ms. Shedd believes education is more than a career—it is her ministry and calling. Her passion for students comes from a deeply personal place. As someone who remembers what it felt like to need adults who could see beyond the surface and recognize the potential within, she is committed to seeing students through that same lens: with grace, high expectations, compassion, and belief in who they are becoming.

Ms. Shedd’s leadership style is steady, relationship-driven, and rooted in both clarity and care. She believes strong schools are built through trust, consistency, encouragement, and a culture where students and staff feel valued, supported, and challenged to grow. She is passionate about supporting teachers, empowering students, and helping create a campus where every person knows they matter.

Outside of school, Ms. Shedd is the proud mother of Hannah, 21, who recently began a master’s degree program in clinical psychology at UTPB and is engaged to be married in February 2027 to Ray Straub.

Ms. Shedd is honored and excited to continue serving the TLCA family as Principal of TLCA High School. She considers it a privilege to pour back into the community that helped shape her, and she looks forward to all that God has in store for the students, staff, and families of TLCA High School.
